So Additional Information about Loving You [Remaster]Portions of this page Copyright 1948 - 2009 Muze Inc. All rights reserved. Personnel: Elvis Presley (vocals, guitar); Scotty Moore, Tiny Timbrell (guitar); George Fields (harmonica); Dudley A. Brooks, Gordon Stoker, Hoyt Hawkins (piano); Bill Black (double bass); D.J. Fontana (drums); The Jordanaires (background vocals).Recording information: Paramount Scoring Stage, Hollywood, California (01/1957); Radio Recorders, Hollywood, California (02/1957). This is the soundtrack CD to Elvis' second movie, Loving You, which is remixed and remastered from the original three-track master tapes. Recorded at The Paramount Scoring Stage and Radio Recorders, Hollywood, CA in January and February 1957. By this time, Elvis was doing precious little that was wrong, and his range and control were growing geometrically. Thus, amid some powerful rock & roll, including "Mean Woman Blues " (which could almost have passed for one of his Sun tracks & has been recorded by Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison and many others.) Plus "Teddy Bear, "&  the electric guitar-driven "Got a Lot 'o Livin' to Do!, "  One of his great blues performances on moves into Sons of the Pioneers territory with the hauntingly beautiful Western ballad "Lonesome Cowboy. " He doesn't do badly with "Blueberry Hill, " either- and any album with "Got a Lot o' Living to Do! " is all right! Elvis Presley's first film, LOVE ME TENDER, included music as an afterthought, but music was the priority in LOVING YOU. Four of the seven songs were hits, while "(Let's Have A) Party " at 90 seconds is the shortest single ever to make the charts, a peculiar achievement as Elvis has an additional verse in the film. Fans used to send Elvis Presley teddy bears, hence the song of the same name. Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller wrote one of their finest ballads with "Loving You, " a song comparable to Cole Porter's "True Love " which, in turn, completed this 8-track, 10-inch album. In the USA, the album was issued in 12-inch format and the four additional tracks, including "Blueberry Hill, " were released on an EP in the UK.
