Megaforce Records started off life as an independent record company not unlike Combat and Metal Blade. In their early years they helped launch the careers of bands like Metallica, Exciter, T.T. Quick, Anthrax, and many others. In other words, Megaforce had a huge part in starting the thrash movement of the mid 80's. Metallica's first two albums were actually released on Megaforce before they were picked up by Elektra Records, who have re-issued the first two albums several times over.
